Claire

I have been hairdressing for 27 years and I opened Redheadz in April 1998. I have gained my NVQ Level 2 & 3 and I am now working towards anassessor’s qualification which will allow me to pass on my skills to both apprentices and advanced stylists.

If there is any treatment that would bring my hair back to life what would you recommend?

I love ‘Caviar Hair Treatment’ it’s something I use every week to give my hair a quick feel good. I also think Olaplex is a must as it re-bonds hair and makes colour last longer.

What is your favourite product to use?

‘Weather Proof’ is my favourite at the moment as it seals hair preventing it from going frizzy in damp weather. This product also works in humidity.

How would you best describe yourself?

Crazy, loud, outgoing but very caring.

What are your biggest accomplishments?

Opening Redheadz in 1998 when I was only 22 and becoming ambassador for Staying Put. Every year I try to organise a charity event for a local charity I am passionate about such as Mosaic.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy walking and spending time with my dogs. I have recently got a german shepherd puppy so she takes up most of my spare time. I also enjoy having the occasional bottle of wine, pinot blush is my favourite.

What made you want to go into advanced hairdressing training?

I am so passionate about hair and making people feel good. I consider myself to be very patient so advanced training is something I love.

If you could pick a partner in crime at work who would it be?

I would pick Sarah.

What makes you so passionate after such a long time?

Every day is different as my customers are an enjoyable part of it and the team I work with are fantastic.

How did you open Redheadz?

I was unemployed and asked the job centre for advice. I then applied for government funding and was accepted. That’s when Redheadz was born. Redheadz is now the main focus on the charity work I do. We have in the past cut hair for a small donation towards Staying Put or Mosaic. I am now proud to be celebrating 20 years in business on the 8th April at The Weaving Shed, Saltaire.
